I Am Not Desperate For Power - Nana Akuffo Addo

Flagbearer of the NPP, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo says his desire to become president is not really cos' he is desperate for the position. Rather, he wants to contribute to the life and development of Ghana.

"The issue is not about being a President. It is about contribution. That whatever you have in you, your vision and what you can offer. You can also contribute immensly to the development of the country in helping to ensure that the well-being of the people are improved.

So the motivation is not necessarily to be a President but it is to make a contribution to the life and developmenr of our country. It is an important place to do so. My life as a lawyer, I contributed a lot towards the development of the nation. But as President, and once you have power, maybe that is where you the biggest opportunity to make the biggest changed"

He also expressed the need for Ghana to have good and quality systems and policies.

"Systems of good governance and quality are where I will look at. All the biggest economies in the are because of systems and policies. That is what we should be insisting on in this country - systems and policies. When the NPP comes to power, we are going to run a civil service where will rise by merit.

If we run a public servicd with that mentality of serving the state of Ghana rather than individual government, it will bring a lot of change. Once we have that kind of attitude across the country, you will witness the change for yourself.


I am very sad because of the lack of employment opportunities for the youth. People are really suffering but we could have saved the situation if we have a good leader who has a vision and good plans for the country.

Some people do compare us with Korea and Malaysia. We were ahead of them and that makes me sad. Today, Seoul can protect their country and become a beacon not just for Asia but for the rest of the World within a space of fifty years and yet Ghana is where we are. It is very sad"
