Rio 2016 UPDATE: Chinese Fans Viciously Attack News Commentator

A Seven network commentator has been viciously attacked on twitter after an awkward on-air slip of the tongue.

Amanda Abate referred to swimmer, Sun Yang as 'one of China's cheats' instead of one of China's 'stars'.

Her comment has attracted a furore on twitter with some calling on her to quit her job.

She immediately apologised for the 'Freudian slip'. Her co-host Ryan Phelan also acknowledged the error as a 'slip of the tongue' before proceeding with the days highlights.

'A slip? Unless you have a problem with your brain. Or if there is something wrong with your mouth, you should quit your job,' an angry woman tweeted today (10/08).

'Racist! You even worse (sic) than the other loser Mack Horton,' another user said.

'u little (sic) son of a b*tch. Go suck Hoton (sic) d***,' tweeted by another.
